Juventus market, Openda’s ransom weighs like a boulder: there's the solution

Openda has disappeared from the radar. One of the most ballyhooed signings of last summer has turned out to be a total flop. His impact with Juventus was decidedly negative, so much so that, today, he is out of Spalletti’s rotation. In 33 appearances, many as a substitute, he has scored only two goals but, more importantly, has often disappointed, with disappointing performances.
There is a problem. The redemption of his card is not in question. Conditions have been reached that oblige the Bianconeri club to pay Leipzig for 40.6 million euros, which is what was stipulated when Openda signed his contract with Juventus (to which 3.3 million must be added for the loan and the player’s salary).
In short, on balance, Openda has cost a lot and has not returned for what was expected. The economic weight of the operation is already being felt. Juventus has only one plausible solution to pursue: to sell the striker to the highest bidder and try to contain the economic losses.
The question is legitimate: who will invest in Openda in the summer? The bad season has made the Belgian decidedly less attractive. The hope is that there is a club willing to take a chance or, why not, someone who might be interested in a swap. The Juventus club knows that it cannot afford another year with Openda on the roster.
