Serie A disappears from'Europe and plummets in Uefa ranking: total failure

With the eliminations of Bologna and Fiorentina, from the Europa League and Conference League respectively, there is no longer any Serie A club in the running in the three European events. A collapse that speaks volumes about the bad moment in Italian soccer, which has also been eliminated from the World Cup.

Those who dreamed of getting to have a fifth team in the Champions League have been deeply disappointed. Italy, by virtue of these poor results, has slipped to fifth place in the Uefa club rankings, which owes first place to England, followed by Spain, Germany and Portugal.

The Premier League, once again, lays down the law with four teams still in the game (it started with nine). Spain, Germany and France follow with two. Portugal holds out with one (Braga in the Europa League). Closing the list of the magnificent 12 is Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukrainian club) in the Conference League.

Italy will thus be mere spectators in the semifinals of the three European competitions and, of course, also at the next World Cup. A total disaster that certifies, if ever there was a need, the very black moment that the Italian football movement is experiencing.
