Marc Marquez ended the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix with zero points after his fall on the second lap, when he was in second position.

Now the Catalan centaur is 44 points behind Marco Bezzecchi in the riders’ standings, and worries about his poor feeling with the new bike.

“If you fall it’s because you did something wrong. Normally 90 percent of crashes are the rider’s fault, but with some crashes it’s better not to look for the why,” he told Sky. “Honestly we didn’t have time to understand, in one and a half laps it’s complicated to understand the conditions, I was looking for the feeling; Alex overtook me, I wanted to fight for my goal which was fourth or third position. The throttle closed on me, I didn’t even try to hold it, in those situations gravel is better.”

The world champion immediately looks ahead to Monday’s testing, explaining that at the moment he is not worth the podium: “Tomorrow we have an important day of testing and we can immediately get back on the saddle and continue working. This weekend I was worth fourth-fifth position. I made the pole and won the Sprint, but in both cases in very special circumstances when you have to ride trying to be as clean as possible. We have to grow little by little as a bike-driver package.”

“Le Mans to start again? I have no expectations, it’s a transition, slowly you work and try to stay close. The conditions yesterday helped us, that’s why it went well. We have to ride better, cleaner. I saw Alex very close already at 5, I knew he would pass me, already in the warm-up he was going strong.”
