Ducati, Pecco Bagnaia mystery: Tardozzi still wonders why

Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi to Sky on the sidelines of MotoGP testing spoke as he usually does in no uncertain terms about Pecco Bagnaia’s retirement on Sunday, which still remains a mystery for the team. “We haven’t understood it, we are analyzing it, because at first glance there was nothing wrong.”
“We have to understand and we will have to evaluate what happened, all the elements that needed to be taken have been taken, and they have been given to those in charge,” Tardozzi continued. The Piedmontese rider had spoken of a “technical glitch on the front. At the beginning I was able to take off hard, and the pace was not so bad, until this problem got worse. The further I went, the worse it got, until I couldn’t stop the bike anymore.”
The Ducati is working on aerodynamics to catch up with the Aprilia, Tardozzi further explained, “I think it has become crucial to have the load on the ground, which can give you the right aerodynamics especially in the corners, where we know Aprilia has made a leap forward.”
“Over the weekend, apart from Alex who was really incredibly fast, the Aprilias were outperforming us. So we are trying aerodynamic mixes to find the right solution. I think we will have something more soon so we can be more competitive and fight more consistently with Aprilia. We have done that here, but I think there will be tracks where they will be faster than us by default, I’m thinking of Silverstone, where historically they have gone stronger than us.”
