Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc bitterly commented on the mistake that cost him the podium in Miami. In the race finale, the Monegasque driver, who was battling for third place with Oscar Piastri, ended up in a spin, damaging his single-seater and slipping to sixth.

“There were no problems with the wing, the idea was to let Piastri pass to have the overtake, I wasn’t strong enough in the second sector, I didn’t have any more rubber there, so I knew that having this overtake in the last corner was the thing to do, unfortunately after that I handled very badly in turns 1-2-3, it’s an unacceptable mistake…,” he explained after the race.

“It was an almost perfect start of the season, this mistake I can’t afford, so I’m very angry, I’m very disappointed with myself. Up to that point it was a very good race: the pace wasn’t there, however, we had done our best, and I’m disappointed.”

Leclerc in the overall standings is third, 37 points behind leader Antonelli: “The team worked a lot, and on the last lap I threw everything in the basket. We have to manage some things a little better, but in the end we had maximized the result until what was my mistake,” concluded the driver from the Principality.

Winning the Miami Grand Prix was once again Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who is increasingly the master of this season. The Mercedes driver, who started from pole position – the third consecutive pole position of his career, a record shared with only Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher – made a wrong start and was involved in a battle in the early laps with Leclerc and Norris, but then retook the lead after the pit stop and did not let go until the finish line. Second position for Lando Norris, third for Oscar Piastri: a McLaren one-two that completed the podium.
