Jannik Sinner, the'former world number one stunned: "He added a'lethal"weapon;

Jannik Sinner has arrived in Rome as the big favorite of the Internazionali d’Italia: after smashing the last five Masters 1000s, the Azzurro has in his sights the sixth consecutive one, before Roland Garros kicks off at the end of May. But the South Tyrolean in the coming days may surpass another prestigious record, that of Novak Djokovic’s consecutive victories in a tournament in this category (he is now at 28 against Nole’s 31).
In his podcast, former world number one Andy Roddick pointed out the Italian champion’s incredible growth: “It makes you think that when the other one is not there, when Carlos Alcaraz is not there, the gap from the others is really evident. The way he can read matches tactically is something he has added over the years. He has also incorporated the short forehand bunt, which he plays crossed 95% of the time, but you still have to cover it.”
Sinner is constantly evolving: “He has also expanded the variations on the backhand. He’s started playing one-handed backhand bunts both down the line and cross court more often than I’ve ever seen before.”
Roddick pointed out the impressive growth from four years ago: “It’s crazy to look at him four years ago and then now: the strength, the movement, everything he does, the serve … he’s complete now. His average level, with which he dominates you from the backcourt, is extraordinary, and he can win five more Slams just like that. There was a time when the question was whether he could explode in the Slams, now he can get to an even higher level…”.
Certifying the size of the Sinner phenomenon are also the words of Sam Querrey, former ATP Top 15, who in his podcast ‘Nothing Major Show’ went beyond any doubt: “Sinner will break Djokovic’s record. He needs four wins in Rome and Djokovic is on Zverev’s side of the board. He is by far the best player in the world, has won 23 consecutive matches overall and 28 in a row in Masters 1000s. Without Carlos Alcaraz, who should beat him? I don’t see anyone capable of stopping him in Rome.”
