Jannik Sinner moves half of Serie A: Napoli, Juve, Milan, Como and the Rome derby at'lunchtime

The Rome derby will be played next Sunday at 12:30 p.m., and so will all the other matches concerning the Champions League sprint. After anticipations by Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo at the microphones of Gr Parlamento-Radio Rai, confirmation came in the following hours: Roma-Lazio, Como-Parma, Genoa-Milan, Juventus-Fiorentina, and Pisa-Napoli, that is, all matches involving teams fighting for the Champions League, will be played at lunchtime.
The decision came because of the concomitance of the final of the Internazionali di Tennis in Rome, where Jannik Sinner could be in attendance. For public order reasons, law enforcement officials wanted to postpone the derby to Monday at 6 p.m., while television stations objected.
This compromise was arrived at. The matches will end a few hours before the start of the final of the tournament in Rome, and the simultaneity between competitions involving clubs committed to the same goal has been guaranteed.
“Trying to keep together, in a point of balance, all the requirements, from public order to the final of the International Tennis Championships to the requirements of contemporaneity planned for the last two days of the championship, I am convinced that the solution of 12.30 on Sunday, which moreover as mentioned will cover four other matches, could contemplate everyone’s interest,” De Siervo said.
Excluding the evening: “In the evening unfortunately in the city of Rome it is not possible to play a derby given how the fans put the fans on fire on the last occasion. On the other hand, no one would like this shift to be asked of tennis to postpone a possible Sinner final in the evening time as is moreover the case in other tournaments. So by trying to hold together in a balance point all the needs and relying on the professionalism and ability of our law enforcement, the quaestor and the prefect I am convinced that the solution of the lunch match, could contemplate the interest of all.”
