Italy crisis: comes Giovanni Malagò's announcement

Italian soccer seeks to restart after the World Playoffs drubbing. Former Coni president Giovanni Malagò has dissolved his reservations and announced his official candidacy for FIGC president. “I had said it and I have been true to my word, out of institutional respect for the Cio Coventry president who was here in Rome and the components I have always reiterated that I would dissolve the reserves immediately afterwards. I confirm that tomorrow morning I will deposit my candidacy for the presidency in the Federcalcio,” are the words reported by Ansa.
Malagò made his move after receiving the support of the Lega di Serie B, which in an official statement made his choice known: “We have registered a decided orientation on the figure of Giovanni Malagò, on which we intend to converge.”
“The National Professional League Serie B communicates the completion of the path undertaken in recent weeks on the subject of the Federal Elective Assembly of next June 22, focused on method and content, materialized with the drafting of a programmatic document. The outcome of the consultation that the president, Paolo Bedin, carried out with the individual clubs, downstream of the meeting held last week in Figc with the potential candidates, recorded a decisive orientation on the figure of Giovanni Malagò, on whom it is therefore intended to converge. We will now enter, once the candidacy has been formalized, into the analysis of the relevant electoral program.”
Malagò is in the running with the president of the National Amateur League Giancarlo Abete.
