Palermo mourns little Alessia

Palermo mourns the passing of Alessia La Rosa, an 8-year-old girl who was a great fan of the Rosanero team. After a long fight against cancer that lasted seven years, Alessia passed away Tuesday generating great emotion in the club and the Sicilian fans.
Alessia, a season ticket holder in Curva Nord, had been nicknamed “the warrior” for her courage in facing the disease. “There is a different ending. One in which you never left. And you stayed with us, with the stadium lights reflected in your eyes as you walked onto the field with the boys, or up there in the corner as you chanted with all the breath you had. This ending, if we want it, is still possible, as long as each of us carries your smile in our hearts. See you at the stadium Ale, as always and forever,” is the note on Facebook from the Rosanero club.
“Palermo FC, with President Dario Mirri and the entire City Football Group family, mourns the untimely death of Alessia La Rosa, a little Rosanero fan only 8 years old who fought with extraordinary strength against a terrible illness. Taking the field several times at the Renzo Barbera stadium alongside the Rosanero players, and in particular Jacopo Segre, during official matches, Alessia had built a bond with Palermo that was capable of going beyond soccer.”
In the months the Palermo ultras had several times dedicated choruses and banners to her: “Alessia the Nord is with you,” “Alessia fight.” The little girl had also been invited by Venice fans to the Penzo stadium to attend Friday’s match between the orange-greens and Palermo but her condition has worsened in recent weeks. The funeral chamber will be set up on the field of the Barbera stadium.
