Ducati, new wake-up call: worrisome words from Pecco Bagnaia

On the track for just a few laps during the Barcelona test sessions, which closed an hour and a quarter before the scheduled end due to unstable weather and were marked by yet another bad crash in recent days, this time occurring to Jorge Martin, Pecco Bagnaia sets off a new alarm bell at Ducati: with the Italian GP on the horizon, the three-time world champion admitted to having a problem with his wrist that he needs to have carefully evaluated to avoid more serious problems.
“When I go home I’ll have my wrist checked again, because the feeling is that something is still not in the correct position,” Bagnaia told official MotoGp channels at the conclusion of Monday’s sessions. “We’ll see what the tests will say. For sure, a lot of physiotherapy awaits me: I will have to work well, gradually, without forcing too much in training to avoid worsening the situation.”
Bagnaia is back from a weekend with two faces in Barcelona: far from the top until qualifying, so much so that he was unable to contest Q2, he then made up for it in the Sprint, where he climbed back up to third position, and in the long race, where he finished third following the disqualification of Joan Mir (relegated from second to thirteenth position), which thus allowed him to find the podium again in a Sunday race for the first time since Motegi 2025.
However, the 2026 vintage remains deficit for the Piedmont centaur, who is in eighth place in the overall standings with just six points more than teammate Marc Marquez, who has not competed in the last two race weekends. After the optimism of the pre-season phase, Pecco is coming to terms with a Desmosedici GP-26 that fails to provide him with the desired competitiveness. The boost from the Italian fans at Mugello could prove important, provided the wrist problem does not create further difficulties for him.
