Sofia Goggia with no brakes at Mugello over Federica Brignone and Marc Marquez

Sofia Goggia a special spectator at Mugello: the Italian skiing champion, intercepted by Sky on the sidelines of the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix on the Tuscan track, drew an interesting parallel between the world of motorcycles and that of speed on snow. “How would I define speed? An existential condition, I’ve always sought it on skis since I was a child but what we’re going to see today is not comparable in the slightest, seeing these guys so brave.”
“I ride motorcycles, I have a Ducati with which I ride in Bergamo when the season allows, but I try to use it little and going slowly; I know there are many dangers on the road and uncalculated risks. However, when you are on skis, it totally changes the perspective and you are in control of the situation, because you depend only on yourself.”
Sofia Goggia talking about Marc Marquez’s return after injury made a mention of her colleague Federica Brignone: “You can make with so many disciplines this comparison of champions who have such great talent that they go beyond adverse fate. Look at what Federica Brignone has done for the Olympics.”
The Tuscan race that was the setting for Goggia’s visit provided excitement to no end. Triumphing was Marco Bezzecchi, who with his fourth win of the season further consolidated his leadership in the MotoGP World Championship. Behind him a historic Aprilia one-two, with Jorge Martin second and Francesco Bagnaia third, able to defend the podium from Ai Ogura’s attacks in the closing stages of the race.
