Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke about the Giallorossi market, dwelling in particular on the future of Gianluca Mancini and Paulo Dybala. On the defender, he responded with a line aimed at Inter: “Inter can do what they want, but Mancini is not moving. I even told him personally.” Regarding Dybala, the coach explained that the market is experiencing a waiting phase, but reiterated the common will to continue together: “Right now there is a stalemate, although we continue to work behind the scenes. Then news can come out of the blue. The will of everyone is for him to remain at Roma.”

Gasperini then ruled out the idea of expecting “gifts” from the Friedkin ownership: “More than gifts, we have to work well, with seriousness and attention. Rome is an extraordinary square, with a stadium that is always full and a unique passion. We have a duty to make the team grow and give satisfaction to the fans.” On Roma’s future, the coach urged caution: “It is too early to make predictions. This is the period of rumors and assumptions, but teams are really built later. However, the goal of the club is to set up a stronger team.”

At the question about a possible excellent transfer due to budgetary needs, Gasperini answered clearly: “My will would be to keep everyone. There are economic needs, but we will have to be good at managing them and finding ways to retain the best players, because it is from them that a competitive team can be built.” On the subject of reinforcements, the coach stressed the difficulties of the market: “Everyone wants the best players, but you have to deal with budgets, prosecutors and other clubs. The important thing is to work well. There is still plenty of time between now and August 31.”

Finally, commenting on the rumors about Mason Greenwood, he preferred not to get out of line: “Every day new names come out. First of all we have to focus on the players who are already with Roma. Of those who are not part of the team, at the moment, we don’t talk.” There was no lack of a lighter moment dedicated to Flavio Cobolli, the star player at Roland Garros: “We are all rooting for him, even if he will face another Italian. He is an extraordinary guy and, by the way, he played in Roma’s youth team when he was young. Come on Cobolli, this is Roma’s year! If he decides to take a break from tennis, we might even try to sign him.”
