Damien Comolli’s tenure as CEO of Juventus lasted just one year. The French executive, who joined the club in June 2025, resigned on Friday following the Bianconeri’s disappointing season, which came on the heels of lackluster summer and winter transfer windows.

Selinay Comolli, the wife of the former Juventus CEO, shared a thought that reads like a vent on her Instagram profile: “It’s not so bad to have a husband who isn’t working or thinking about a club 20 hours a day, actually,” Mrs. Comolli wrote pointedly.

Weighing on the French executive’s departure were not only the disappointing results on the field—with Juventus failing to qualify for the Champions League—but also a series of disappointing signings. The signings of Jonathan David, Lois Openda, and Edon Zhegrova, in particular, were deemed the most disastrous moves of a tenure that never truly took off. Further complicating the situation were his never-idyllic relationships with neither coach Luciano Spalletti nor Giorgio Chiellini, which made continuing in his role untenable. Replacing him is Giovanni Carnevali, who comes from Sassuolo.

The Juventus Board of Directors made the appointment official in a statement: “Giovanni Carnevali has been appointed CEO and General Manager of the Club, entrusting him with the managerial leadership of the Company with the aim of strengthening Juventus’s sporting and industrial project.” The club also emphasized that Carnevali has “made a decisive contribution to the growth and success of Sassuolo Calcio, which over time has become a recognized model for sustainability, innovation, talent development, and the ability to create value, both on and off the field.”
