For Warren Bondo, it’s a showdown between the newly promoted teams

Warren Bondo could soon return to Monza, a club that is set to hand the head coaching reins to Ivan Juric, who has been called upon to take over from Paolo Bianco following a season that culminated in promotion. However, the French midfielder—who will turn 23 in September—faces stiff competition. In fact, Giovanni Stroppa’s Venezia—another newly promoted team looking to strengthen its midfield with players already accustomed to Serie A—is also reportedly interested in him.

Owned by Milan, Bondo is looking for the best way to relaunch his career after an unfortunate loan spell at Cremonese last season. The goal is to find more playing time and consistency in Italy’s top flight.

Bondo’s career in Italy is now well established. He arrived at Monza in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer after two seasons at Nancy, the Évry-born midfielder made a total of 52 appearances in the red-and-white jersey between 2022 and January 2024, including a stint in Serie B with Reggina. In February 2024, the Brianza-based club had secured the player by extending his contract through June 30, 2027, before Milan acquired his rights during the winter transfer window. With the Rossoneri, however, Bondo saw little playing time, taking the field on just five occasions across league and cup play.

The 2025–26 season at Cremonese—where he had arrived on a dry loan last August alongside Filippo Terracciano—did not represent the leap in quality he had hoped for. The Grigiorossi, in their second stint in Serie A in four years following their promotion secured by defeating Spezia in the playoff final, clearly did not offer the Frenchman the ideal conditions to perform at his best, prompting him to now seek a new home.

Meanwhile, on the Monza front, the Brianza-based club is defining its identity ahead of its return to Serie A. The parting of ways with Paolo Bianco—which was mutual but not without tension—has brought an era to a close: the coach, who led the Biancorossi to promotion by defeating Catanzaro in the playoff final, is ready to embark on a new adventure on the Pisa bench. Juric thus inherits a newly promoted team that needs decisive action in the transfer market, and Bondo—who is already familiar with the environment and the league—could represent a practical, high-quality solution for the midfield.
