Inter Transfer Market: No Nico Paz. A turning point for the Argentine following Como’s move

Nico Paz will remain in Italy, but he won’t be joining Inter: Como has decided to re-sign Nico Paz immediately. Following Real Madrid’s decision to exercise its buyback option for the Argentine forward, paying the 9 million euros as previously agreed, the Como-based club has decided to invest the 60 million euros needed to keep the player in Serie A for another year.
Nico Paz will therefore remain on the shores of Lake Como, and Real Madrid will be able to buy him back in a year for approximately 80 million euros. This is a solution strongly desired by the player, who has long been pushing to stay another year under Cesc Fabregas, who has helped him develop significantly over the past year.
Como has just secured a historic qualification for the Champions League, and Paz believes it is the right team for him to showcase his talents on the world stage, considering that he might have had fewer opportunities with Real Madrid or other clubs. The possibility of a move to Inter—which, according to some rumors, had been keeping an eye on the situation, ready to pounce—fell through almost immediately. Vice President Javier Zanetti had been in contact with his father, Pablo Paz, but in the end, Paz’s desire to stay at Como prevailed.
The attacking midfielder, currently playing for Argentina at the 2026 World Cup, appeared in 35 Serie A matches last season, scoring 12 goals.
The relationship between Paz and Fabregas is clearly strong, as evidenced by the tensions that had arisen in recent weeks between the Spanish coach and Inter. When Zanetti had openly courted his compatriot by publicly declaring his interest—“I really like him; I’m lucky enough to know his father. He’s on his way to becoming a great player”—Fabregas made no secret of his disappointment: “I’m sorry. Zanetti has been a very important figure in soccer; he knows the dynamics well. At the end of the day, Nico is a Como player 50%. The only club that has a say is Real Madrid. I know Zanetti doesn’t work for Madrid or Como, so we have to show respect.” The coach then definitively closed the door on the Nerazzurri: “One thing I know for sure: Nico Paz won’t be playing for Inter. He’ll either return to Real Madrid or play for Como next year.”
