Jannik Sinner Speaks Out on the Upcoming Heat Wave at Wimbledon

At a press conference at Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner responded to questions about the heat wave heading to London. During the first week of the tournament, temperatures remained mild, but forecasts call for high temperatures in the coming days, with highs around 32 degrees.
The Italian is known to dislike the heat—he struggled greatly with the extreme weather conditions at Roland Garros—but the world No. 1 didn’t seem particularly concerned and gave a terse response to the question: “It seems you know the schedule better than I do… (smiles—ed.). I don’t know when they’ve scheduled me to play in the coming days. I’m happy either way. I’m well prepared. We’ve prepared well.”
“Whatever happened in the past is water under the bridge now. Now we’ll see if we’ve found a solution. If not, we’ll keep working toward the next one. But in any case, in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam, the feeling is different.”
Sinner is improving with every match, after a shaky start to the tournament against Kecmanovic: “There’s more attention to every detail. We try to prepare for every match as if it were the most important one, and we’ll see. I’m trying to control everything within our power; the rest is about trying to solve the problem.”
The victory over the Japanese player—ranked No. 151 in the ATP rankings and a true surprise of the tournament—propelled Sinner into the quarterfinals, where he’ll face Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff. It promises to be a challenging match, as Sinner himself noted after the match: “He’s an aggressive player; I’ve faced him a couple of times before, and the last time was on grass, in Halle.” The winner of the quarterfinal will then face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.
