Marc Marquez is candid about his physical condition ahead of the Sachsenring race

MotoGP is gearing up for its 11th round of the season. This weekend, the World Championship heads to Germany for the Sachsenring Grand Prix, one of the most anticipated events on the calendar and a crucial turning point in the riders’ standings following the race at Assen. Among the most anticipated riders is Marc Marquez, who has built a true legend at the German circuit. The Spaniard has already claimed twelve victories on this track, which has become one of his favorite venues over the years, and he’ll try to make his mark once again.
The nine-time world champion, however, heads into the race with some questions surrounding his physical condition. The issues he’s faced in recent races have affected his performance, but the break may have allowed him to recharge and prepare for a comeback in the world championship standings, where he currently trails leader Jorge Martin by 40 points.
In an interview with Sky Sport, Márquez had this to say about the German weekend: “I won last year, but I’ve won many races—seven in a row, in fact. So I think it’s a track I like, one that suits my style pretty well, and we’ll see. We’ll try to work well over the weekend and, above all, fight for the podium.”
The Spanish rider then explained the importance of working on his physical recovery, even cutting his vacation short to focus on preparation: “The bike is working, the team is working, my mind is working. We need to work on my physical conditioning to try to take a step forward this summer. The vacation will be shorter, so we can try to take a step forward and see how far we can go with this right arm.”
