Kimi Antonelli at Ferrari, Matteo Bobbi: “Fascinating, but let’s take it slow”

Sportal.it was also present at the event in Milan where Sky and Now unveiled their exciting programming lineups for the new season: Matteo Bobbi, a former race car driver and the network’s motorsports commentator, shared his exclusive insights on what’s happening in the F1 World Championship.
“I’d say it’s been a very positive season for Italian drivers, for two reasons. First of all, there’s Kimi Antonelli, who at just 19 years old is leading the World Championship in his second year in Formula 1—something we haven’t seen in a very long time. Then there’s Ferrari, which has won two Grand Prix races in the first nine rounds—a result we haven’t seen in a long time.”
“If we look at the standings, Antonelli and Russell are at the top, but right behind them is Lewis Hamilton. The championship is still wide open, especially since we’re only at the ninth race out of twenty-two.”
“Until recently, both Hamilton and Leclerc seemed at a loss. But in the end, what you need most in Formula 1 is a competitive car. In our sport, it’s not enough to drive well or have talent: all the elements need to work together.”
“This year, Ferrari finally seems competitive. It may not be the absolute fastest car on the grid, but it’s fast enough to allow its two drivers to fight for the top positions. And when Mercedes has a rough patch, Ferrari is immediately ready to take advantage of it.”
“To those already dreaming of a future with Antonelli at Ferrari, I’d say to be patient. Let’s let him develop and, above all, let him win with Mercedes. Then, of course, seeing an Italian driver behind the wheel of the Scuderia would be something special. But he has a long-term contract with Mercedes, so it’s only right that he continues his journey there.”
