Sinner-Djokovic: The former Wimbledon champion gives his verdict

Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic will face off on Friday for a spot in the Wimbledon final: it’s the most anticipated match of the London Grand Slam. The defending champion from Italy is looking to get revenge on Nole after his loss at the Australian Open, while the perennial Serbian champion is chasing his 25th career Grand Slam title.

Many experts have shared their predictions, including former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek: “It’ll be interesting. I think there’s a good chance of a Sinner-Zverev final, and in the last five or six matches Zverev has played against Sinner, he hasn’t stood a chance,” the former Dutch tennis player—who won Wimbledon in 1996—told tennis365.

“I believe Sinner has an edge over Djokovic and will win the match and the tournament. But it won’t be easy—he hasn’t played with the same ease or dominance as he did leading up to that strange loss to Cerundolo at Roland Garros. I still think he’ll keep getting better and better and will ultimately win this tournament. I think he might be doing some things a little differently—in terms of hydration, nutrition, preparation, or perhaps the way he trains.”

Wimbledon finalist Marc Philippoussis also shared his prediction with Tennis365: “Aside from that moment of anxiety in the first round, Sinner made it through, and that’s what matters: surviving. And besides, you get the impression that he’s playing better and better as the tournament progresses. Djokovic, on the other hand, seems to be in really great shape.”

“If there’s one tournament where he can win his last Grand Slam, it’s definitely on grass; to me, it seems like the most logical surface. Because the rallies are shorter, and he’s a true master on that surface.”
