With his victory (his second in a row) at Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner has once again demonstrated his incredible strength. The South Tyrolean champion deservedly tops the ATP rankings, while his great rival Carlos Alcaraz has slipped to third place.

The Murcia native has been sidelined since April, when he suffered inflammation of the tendons in his right wrist in Barcelona, and may not return until late August. Meanwhile, in Spain, the sports newspaper *As* published an article with a very clear title: “Jannik Sinner, the Top 10’s Nightmare.”

The piece lays out all the statistics regarding the Italian star’s dominance and highlights, above all, the fact that Sinner has won 21 of his last 22 matches against Top 10 opponents, losing only to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open semifinals.

Although the statistics speak for themselves, there are still those who downplay Jannik Sinner’s achievements. During an interview posted on YouTube alongside his sister Dinara Safina and former tennis player Anna Chakvetadze, Marat Safin didn’t mince words: “Sinner and Alcaraz aren’t even close to Federer’s level. It’s a completely different level. To reach Federer’s level, they still have a long way to go.”

The former world No. 1 then reiterated his thoughts on comparing them to the great champions of the recent past. “I don’t want to belittle anyone. It’s simply my point of view. If Sinner and Alcaraz had played during the era of Nadal and Djokovic, or even in the early 2000s, they wouldn’t have become world number one or number two. I don’t think they would have gotten that far.”
