Napoli Transfer Market: Noa Lang Causes Problems. But the Dutchman…

Napoli is trying to finalize the transfer of Noa Lang, who does not fit into Massimiliano Allegri’s technical plans. The club’s goal is to generate revenue from the Dutch player’s departure and then use those funds for new investments in the transfer market. If he were to stay, it would be a problem, but the player seems to have resigned himself to the situation, so he cannot be blamed in any way… .
The relationship between Lang and Napoli had already deteriorated last season, when Antonio Conte was still at the helm. In January, when he was loaned to Galatasaray, the Dutchman did not mince words about the then-coach: “I didn’t click with the coach; let’s just leave it at that,” he told ESPN, adding that “one day, the whole truth will come out.” It was a clean break that had effectively burned bridges with the Naples club even before the end of the season.
At the moment, there are primarily two clubs interested. The first is Ajax, though it reportedly has not yet initiated concrete talks with Napoli. The Galatasaray option, however, appears to be more advanced; Lang had already been playing for the club since January after seeing limited playing time in Conte’s rotation.
Reports from Turkey mention an initial offer of 15 million euros, a figure that Napoli reportedly deemed insufficient. Lang would nonetheless have become one of Galatasaray’s top priorities, thanks in part to the positive impression he made during his previous stint in Istanbul. It should be noted that the winter transfer had been structured as a loan with a fee of 2–3 million euros, with a buyout clause set at 25 million: the Turks, evidently, did not exercise the option, and Lang thus returned to his parent club without having convinced anyone to sign him permanently—a circumstance that inevitably reduces his bargaining power during this summer transfer window.
While playing for the Turkish club, the Dutchman had made 19 appearances, recording three assists in the league and even scoring a brace against Juventus in the Champions League. That very match—the first leg of the Round of 16 playoffs in February—had left a lasting impression: Lang first tied the score at 2-2 by pouncing on a short rebound from Di Gregorio, then made it 4-2 by capitalizing on a defensive blunder by the opposition, playing a decisive role in Galatasaray’s 5-2 victory.
In recent weeks, Maurizio Sarri’s Atalanta has also entered the race, reportedly expressing interest in the Dutch player as they seek a player capable of adding unpredictability to their offensive play. However, another loan deal would not be the preferred solution for Aurelio De Laurentiis, who aims to monetize the player’s transfer permanently.
In this context, Napoli is already looking ahead. With the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Fenerbahçe, the Neapolitan club has gained greater financial flexibility and is working on other transfer targets. Allegri, who took over from Conte as Napoli’s head coach, is reshaping the roster according to his own needs, and Lang’s time at Napoli is definitively over. The coming weeks will be decisive in determining the former PSV player’s next destination.
