Como Transfer Market: Kean in High Demand; New Offer Expected Today

Things are getting serious for Moise Kean on the shores of Lake Como, and so Como has submitted an initial official offer to Fiorentina. After several weeks of deliberation, the Lombardy-based club has put a 5 million euro loan deal on the table, with a mandatory buyout clause set at 25 million, for a total investment of 30 million.

The proposal, however, does not satisfy Fiorentina, which values the striker at around 40 million euros. The gap therefore remains significant, but Como will in all likelihood make a new offer in the coming hours to try to get closer to the Viola’s demands. Bonuses and a possible percentage of any future resale could prove useful in finding common ground.

To understand the negotiations in their broader context, it’s important to note that Fiorentina has had an extraordinarily busy summer transfer window. Sporting director Fabio Paratici has already brought eleven new players to Florence, with the stated goal of returning to European competition after last season’s disappointing campaign, which ended in fifteenth place with the threat of relegation. The most recent signing was Mateo Pellegrino, acquired from Parma for approximately 25 million euros; his arrival effectively made Roberto Piccoli’s presence redundant, and Piccoli is set to join Bologna on loan with an obligation to buy for a sum just over 15 million. It is precisely this overhaul of the attacking lineup that has helped open up a real possibility for Kean’s transfer—a player who, until just a few weeks ago, was considered untouchable.

For his part, Kean would be open to a transfer. At Como, he would have the chance to play regularly, become a key player in Cesc Fabregas’s attack, and compete in the Champions League. The prospect of moving to Lombardy would also appeal to the player and his family. The forward, however, has not asked Fiorentina to be transferred and is awaiting developments between the two clubs.

It should not be forgotten that Kean’s profile also perfectly meets Como’s UEFA squad list requirements: with the Champions League on the horizon, Como needs players trained in Italy, and the Vercelli-born center forward—with 26 appearances and 13 goals for the national team—represents a nearly ideal solution in this regard. It’s no coincidence that in recent weeks, the Lombardy-based club had also kept other options open, such as those involving Irish forward Troy Parrott and Benfica striker Franjo Ivanovic, both considered alternatives should the pursuit of Kean fail.

Fabregas himself, a great admirer of the former Juventus player, is playing a key role in the negotiations. After carefully evaluating the feasibility of the deal, the Spanish coach reportedly gave his approval for the investment. If a deal is reached, Como would also have to guarantee Kean a salary of approximately 4.5 million euros.
