The'former champion bewitched by Jannik Sinner: "Much more than a robot"

Very often it has happened that Jannik Sinner has been labeled as a ‘robot’ both because of the precision of his strokes and great professionalism and because the South Tyrolean is always very secretive about his personal life. Speaking on ‘The big T’ podcast, former tennis player Andrea Petković however, gave her opinion on the Azzurro champion.
“In interviews sometimes they give us a few minutes, often only time for two questions. So, especially in German where the English people behind me do not understand that I am asking more questions, I try to include three already in the first one. I have several times seen Jannik make a strange face as if to say, “Okay, where do I start?” But I prefer him to choose, and punctually he always opts for the tactical question. He goes into detail with great depth. I understand why some people might find him a bit robotic but in my opinion there is much more to him, especially in the lucidity and depth with which he analyzes and narrates his tennis.”
“I had the pleasure of interviewing him in German but he is actually very good in English as well,” continued the former racquetball champion. “It is amazing how he talks about tennis: in English he is great but I think sometimes he is a bit more cautious, in German he is much funnier or maybe just more fluent in the language he grew up with. I think languages bring out different sides of personality.”
Andrea Petković concluded his talk with an anecdote: “The way he talks about tennis, especially when you ask him about specific tactics, is impressive. I remember an interview after he had beaten Ben Shelton at Wimbledon Championships in three sets, all incredibly hard-fought, with Ben having played really well. I asked him how he had handled his service response, and the level of detail he went into was extraordinary.”
The empire of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz is threatened by Joao Fonseca who, despite losing his first matches against the two super champions, seems to have the makings of a contender for future Slams to the Blue and the Murcia outfielder. Fonseca has been a topic of discussion in recent days for his comparison between Sinner and Alcaraz: “I think Alcaraz has a wider repertoire than Sinner. Jannik is more like a robot who just hits the ball flawlessly. Carlos, on the other hand, can do it all. He can use topspin, shoot with power, has good movement, goes to the net. It is more difficult for him to play.”
