Jannik Sinner, clear words on Jiri Lehecka and ranking ambitions

Thanks to a majestic performance and the ability to adapt even in the most complex moments of a match, Jannik Sinner got rid of the competition of Alexander Zverev also in Miami (after having already defeated him in Indian Wells), winning a place in the final that he will play against one of the surprises of this tournament, world number 22 Jiri Lehecka. A tennis player that Sinner, for sure, does not want to underestimate given his path in the tournament.
“Sunday I have a very challenging match ahead of me,” Sinner said in a press conference after his semifinal success against Zverev. “While analyzing the matches played, I have to think right away about who I will find on the other side of the net: Lehecka is playing extraordinary tennis here in Miami and will come to the court with nothing to lose. My situation is different, but the approach does not change: I will give everything I have. Hopefully we can have a great final.”
In addition to the qualities of the opponent, Sinner points out that another variable could affect the final itself in no small part: “The weather forecast is not encouraging,” said the outfielder from Sesto Pusteria, “I hope the weather will be dry and that we can play in the best conditions. Whatever happens, however, I consider these two tournaments exceptional, as far as my path is concerned: to have reached the final in both is already a very important result for me.”
The topic of ranking is then inevitable, also in light of the rumors that would have Sinner play all three Masters 1000 on clay in the spring (Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome): “I know well the possible scenarios but I also know that one tournament can make all the difference in the world – said the Azzurro -. We have to see what will happen, in Rome for example there are many points to defend both for me and for Alcaraz. In the talk there is also Zverev, he is an incredible player as we have also seen here in Miami. We will see how it will go.”
