Riccardo Piatti warns about Jannik Sinner in Monte Carlo. “Let’s not expect the big boys to play great right away. Monte Carlo is about finding the balances, a new way of being on the court after the concrete. And mind you: no one clay is the same as another,” he tells Corriere della Sera.

“Tennis on clay, preferably three sets out of five, is the most beautiful and difficult. You have to be able to glide, move the ball, be patient. There are components that are missing on other surfaces. Alcaraz and Sinner are a level above the others; they need little to make the switch. Alcaraz on red has a greater ease of adaptation, Jan may need more time.”

“We have seen a full start from Alcaraz, now to go full throttle is Jannik. In their sights they both have Paris: whoever gets there better, wins. Let’s see how Alcaraz will get back on track, and he will, and how Sinner will handle the approach: his goal is to win Roland Garros and, on the way, Rome.”

“For me, the only one who can challenge those two on clay is Zverev. He’s a hard worker however, he never changes his point of view: it’s okay to have a father coach, he’s fine the way he is, but maybe getting a coach to tell him something different wouldn’t hurt. Musetti? On red, I expect good things from him too, who always plays well in Paris.”
