After skipping the first round with both feet thanks to the ‘bye’ reserved for the top eight seeds, Lorenzo Musetti begins his adventure at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 against the tournament’s host, Valentin Vacherot of Monaco. It will not be an easy challenge for the Carrarino, engaged against the number 23 in the world rankings who reached the second round pushed also by the cheers of his compatriots in the match he won against Juan Manuel Cerundolo 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.

The match between Musetti and Vacherot will be staged last, in order of time, on Wednesday at the “Ranieri III” court, preceded by Berrettini vs. Medvedev, on court at 11 a.m., Garin vs. Zverev and Auger-Aliassime vs. Cilic. The start time of the match thus depends on when the precedents will be completed but it is possible to estimate a first serve between 3 and 4 p.m. The match will be broadcast on Sky channels 201 and 206 and streamed on NOW.

There is no precedent between the Carrara tennis player and the Monegasque: Musetti, fresh off an excellent Australian Open before an unfortunate withdrawal in the quarters against Novak Djokovic, has played only one match since then, in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters 1000, losing in two sets to Marton Fucsovics. Vacherot, on the other hand, is aiming to reach the round of 16 in his home tournament, a result he has never achieved so far.

Talking about successes on the major circuit, Lorenzo Musetti boasts two tournaments won, both four years ago (in Hamburg and Naples), but also seven finals lost, the last of them in Hong Kong just before the Australian Open. Vacherot, on the other hand, has won only one tournament in his career, but it was at the Masters 1000 level, winning against Arthur Rinderknech in Shanghai in October 2025.
