Matteo Berrettini after the'exploit is forced to say goodbye to Monte Carlo

Matthew Berrettini’s adventure at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 is interrupted in the third round, complicit in a defeat against Joao Fonseca. The young Brazilian won access to the quarterfinals by imposing himself with a clear 6-3, 6-2.
The 19-year-old from Rio de Janeiro made the difference especially on serve, showing great solidity and a precision in his strokes that is constantly growing. After routing the first set, he also placed the decisive breaks in the second, including the 5-2 break, taking advantage of a favorable psychological moment.
Berrettini lost confidence just when he seemed to be able to get back into the match, thus facilitating the rather smooth success of a Fonseca in great form on clay. The Brazilian was already coming from a convincing three-set success against Arthur Rinderknech.
For the Roman, therefore, the path in the Monegasque tournament comes to an end, despite the brilliant exploit in the previous round, when he overcame Daniil Medvedev with a double 6-0.
