Inter tile, Lautaro Martinez stops (again): no Como and more

Bad news for Inter: Lautaro Martinez underwent clinical and instrumental examinations today at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The examinations, as communicated by the Nerazzurri club, showed a slight muscle soreness in the soleus of his left leg. His condition will be re-evaluated in the coming days, but a stop of at least two weeks is expected.

A heavy absence that risks seriously complicating Inter’s season finale. The captain will certainly miss Sunday night’s match against Como and the following home engagement against Cagliari (scheduled for Friday, April 17). Considering the muscular nature of the calf problem (albeit mild and in a different area than the previous injury), a forfeit for the return leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal against Como on April 22 also appears likely. The goal of the coaching staff remains to recover him for the league away match against Torino on April 26.

The Scudetto race, therefore, becomes more complicated: the Nerazzurri will have to defend their lead over Napoli and Milan without their leader, a point of reference both technically and emotionally. Coming back from a long stop of almost two months after the injury he picked up in the Champions League against Bodo/Glimt, Lautaro had returned just last week against Roma, immediately signing a brace.

Submitted at the start of the second half, he had then remained on the bench with ice on his left thigh and calf: a sign initially interpreted as a simple precaution, but which in reality hid a new problem. The persistent discomfort then necessitated today’s examinations, delivering Chivu news that was anything but positive.
