Frame Running, great success for international internship with Carlo Calcagni

Great success for “Sport Beyond All Limits – The Method Beyond All Barriers,” an international internship dedicated to Frame Running, an adapted athletics discipline aimed at people with severe motor disabilities. The initiative, sponsored by the Province of Lecce, was held from April 7 to 9 (from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at the Coni School Field in the Salento capital.
Frame Running represents an innovative discipline that allows running thanks to a three-wheeled vehicle, equipped with a saddle and chest support and without pedals, thus allowing even those with significant motor limitations to practice sports actively and competitively.
Satisfied project testimonial Carlo Calcagni, a world champion and member of the National Paralympic team who wanted to share a long and touching message that encapsulates the deepest meaning of the initiative: “At the close of three intense, authentic, deeply human days, something remains that goes beyond any result: emotions remain. The real ones, the ones that are not just told, but experienced on the skin. It was not just an event. It was a strong, clear, direct message: even when someone tells you it is over, it is never really so. And today I feel the need to say it to myself as well: this gives meaning to every suffering faced. Because when you manage to turn pain into something that helps others get back up, then nothing has been in vain.”
“In these days I have seen what you do not forget. I have seen Danilo get up from his wheelchair. I have seen him struggle, resist, believe. And today I saw him run a mile with his legs, next to me. It’s not just sports. It is life starting again. I saw Christian stand up for the first time. Difficult steps, laden with fatigue, but full of meaning. And when he said “it’s beautiful,” he encapsulated it all: pain, achievement, rebirth. These are the victories that really matter. This is sport in its purest form: a tool that not only improves the body, but rebuilds people. Such an achievement is never born on its own.”
“A heartfelt thank you to the national and regional FISPES, the Italian Paralympic Committee and the company Ormesa (they are the ones who made the “Frame Running”), who believed in this project and made it possible, also allowing many young people from the schools present to experience what it means to run, to feel free, to overcome their limits. Thanks to the Puglia Regional Councillor for Sport, Cristian Casili, for his concrete, authentic presence alongside those who fight every day. An important thanks also to the Check-up Center, which has been by our side during these days, providing expertise and structure, guaranteeing support and safety to all participants. And then, an extraordinary added value: the presence of Paco GuillĂ©n, coach of the Spanish national Paralympic team. To him goes my sincere gratitude for his expertise, availability and valuable advice that I will take with me to continue to grow.”
“A due thank you also to the Spanish Paralympic Committee, for making possible this extraordinary opportunity for sharing, collaboration and brotherhood. Because sport teaches a truth that goes beyond any flag: there are no barriers, there are no limits, but above all, there are no borders. Even with a different jersey, you can work together for one goal: to enhance sports and live better because of sports. A special greeting to our friend and rival on the competition fields, Giuseppe Averna, who arrived from Sicily, from Caltanissetta, to experience these three days together. His presence was a sign of true friendship, respect and that brotherhood that only sport can create. So yes, today we can say it strongly: when someone tells you it is over, that is where you can choose to get back up. Never give up, despite everything and everyone, no matter what the cost.”
