Zverev desperate, bitter outburst on court during match with Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner ruled Alexander Zverev with an eloquent 6-1, 6-4, enabling him to qualify for the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 final for the first time. The Italian outlasted Zverev for the seventh consecutive match, his third Masters 1000 semifinal in a row.
The German tennis player seemed in disarray from the start, both against the Sexten Pustertal champion’s serve and his response. Tennis TV revealed Zverev’s outburst during the first set, when he was already down 4-0 in the score. The world No. 3 spoke in Russian to his father and staff, saying dejectedly, “I don’t know how to deal with it.”
After the match, Zverev issued these words, “I’m a little tired. When you are not at your best, I think there is no chance – Jannik is like a wall. He doesn’t give you anything. In Miami I was much closer, especially in the second set. Actually, the second set could have gone in my favor and I felt I had more chances than he did. Here I didn’t have many chances. That’s the main difference.”
Zverev is very bitter: “I won five games, I have the feeling that I didn’t play well this week. But I’m losing to him a lot this year, so I have to figure out what the main difference is.” Sinner will face Carlos Alcaraz in the final on Sunday: if he can beat the Spaniard, he will return to the world number one position.
