Reyer Venezia revolution, big name pops up for after Neven Spahija

The season of Reyer Venezia will continue under the leadership of Neven Spahija, but the future of the orogranata bench seems already written. After the recent home loss against Brescia, according to reports from La Nuova Venezia, the club has decided not to take immediate action, confirming the coach until the end of the year. A choice in the name of continuity, postponing any structural evaluation to the summer.
Behind this apparent stability, however, the first pawns of the new course are already moving. The leading candidate for next season is Luca Banchi, current technical commissioner of the Italian national team. The Venetian management considers him the ideal profile to start a multi-year project, with ambitions that go beyond simply maintaining the current level.
The eventual arrival of the Tuscan coach would be part of a broader plan: the goal is to build a competitive team also from a European perspective, especially in view of the future 10,000-plus-seat arena and the Euroleague dream. Contacts between the parties would already be underway for some time and could intensify at the end of the season.
At the same time, the club is also working on the roster front. Some players are at the center of negotiations or evaluations: among the possible goodbyes stands out that of Cari Wheatle, courted by Brescia, while the club monitors several profiles for possible replacements. On the internal front, work is being done to consolidate some key pawns and define contractual situations still pending.
