Jannik Sinner netted a Masters 1000 hat trick in one month, hitting the Sunshine Double in the United States (Indian Wells and Miami) and winning in Monte Carlo-a feat only Novak Djokovic has achieved in the past. The Blue beat his rival Carlos Alcaraz on his least congenial surface, clay, and demonstrated the incredible progress he has been working for all last winter.

Sinner’s incredible mentality, talent, and continuity of results were praised by Ion Tiriac, the former Romanian tennis player and entrepreneur with a personal fortune of about 3 billion euros. “His commercial value is at least 100 million euros a year, more than twice as much as a soccer player. I am convinced that he can complete the Grand Slam one day, becoming Rod Laver’s successor in this regard,” he told the microphones of Rai Gr Parlamento.

Tiriac also opined on the possible Slams that the Blue can win: “I believe he can easily reach 20. He just needs a team to help him make the right choices in terms of programming.”

The Romanian businessman went further, going so far as to say that even Roger Federer’s record of eight titles won at Wimbledon could be in jeopardy: “The Slam that suits him best is Wimbledon, where he can aspire to break Roger Federer’s record of eight titles.” Sinner has won four career Slams so far, and last season he won his first Wimbledon title by beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

Even tennis greats could not help but extol the level reached by the Italian. John McEnroe, speaking on the sidelines of the Monte Carlo tournament, went so far as to declare that Sinner and Alcaraz, at the height of their potential on clay, would probably be favorites today even against Rafael Nadal. “These two guys right now are like when you look at the NBA and say no one can ever be better than Michael Jordan. The level of tennis right now is higher than I’ve ever seen,” the U.S. legend told TNT Sports.
