Simone Fontecchio drastic on the'Olympia: "I’ve been working my butt off…"

Simone Fontecchio in an interview with Il Centro spoke clearly about his future. The Light Blue has ended his experience with the Miami Heat and is currently a free agent: “I think I still have more than a chance to stay in the NBA, I am convinced that the market will open up paths. Obviously, if I had to decide only me, I would love to stay here in Miami, also because my family has been comfortable in the city. But one thing I have understood over the years: expecting anything in this world is wrong.”
Fontecchio revealed that he has spoken with coach Spoelstra, but at the moment nothing is official: “We have to wait for developments. Today it is still premature to make predictions. There is still the draft and many franchises do not yet have knowledge of what they want to do. We need to wait. I got along very well with him, I consider myself very lucky to have had him as a coach. It is no coincidence that he is regarded as one of the best coaches in the history of the NBA. He demands a lot and has high standards, but I am also on the same wavelength so I got along well right from the start.”
The Azzurro therefore has his eyes set only on the United States and rules out a return to the Euroleague and a move to Olimpia Milano: “I think I have worked my butt off to get to the NBA, which is the league I dreamed of playing in as a child, and I don’t feel like turning my back on this dream and going back yet. Unfortunately, in Italy some people wake up in the morning and launch the scoop “Fontecchio close to Olimpia Milano,” but these are just headlines published by some newspapers to create hype.”
Fontecchio has been in the NBA since 2022 and in recent years has played with the jackets of Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat.
