There is no peace for Sassari.
After Sunday’s loss to Pesaro, the Italian champions have decided to take action.
“Dinamo Banco di Sardegna,” reads a note released Monday, “announces that player Tony Mitchell will no longer be part of the first team roster.”
Last season’s Mvp, in two months, collected 8 appearances with disappointing numbers: 8.9 points per game (compared to more than 20 in his Trento adventure) and a 9.4 rating (far from the previous 17.1).
Valerio Bianchini also spoke on Facebook about the situation of the Sardinian club: “Sassari is working hard in the deconstruction and debasement of the figure of the basketball coach. Not only in a few months it burns a championship-winning coach and the serious professional who replaced him, but it operates a further replacement by ignoring the professional position of assistant coaches and entrusting the technical direction of the team to the GM. All this in the deadly silence of coaches and union and federal representatives of the category.”
The response of President Sardara, in defense of Pasquini, was not long in coming, again on the popular social network: “Since by now the national sport seems to have become insulting Sassari or doing everything to belittle its results, at least do it with knowledge…..This is Federico’s professional path, to which I add a fact not known to most: he passed the national exam with 27/30. At least let’s use hard data out of courtesy, since the previous coach stayed seven years and the person who replaced him resigned…..”.
