Torino is considering several options to strengthen its midfield ahead of next season. In the summer, the granata could choose to rejuvenate the department, raising the quality of their squad. According to reports in Tuttosport, in the Toro’s crosshairs has ended up a talent who has been showing off in recent months in the Bundesliga.

Umut Tohumcu, midfielder of Hoffenheim and the Germany Under-21 team, has been approached by Torino for weeks, which has now made its first concrete move toward the player: according to Tuttosport reports, granata scouts went to Germany to view him live during a Bundesliga match.

Tohumcu is liked for his tactical intelligence and dynamism: there are several Bundesliga and foreign teams on him, and the Granata will have to move early to have a chance of signing the player. His card is valued by Hoffenheim at around 5 million euros.

Torino’s market maneuvers, however, are not only about the midfield. The Granata management, with Gianluca Petrachi at work, is busy on several fronts ahead of a summer that could significantly revolutionize the squad. The offensive department is also set to undergo profound changes: Giovanni Simeone, Ché Adams and Duvan Zapata could leave the club, and the sporting director is already looking for the ideal replacements.

Among the profiles being monitored for the attack is Hugo Cuypers, Belgian bomber of the Chicago Fire. Class of 1997, the player is having a top season in MLS, with 8 goals scored in 6 games despite some injuries suffered in the past months. Also making the track viable is the contractual situation: Cuypers is linked to the Fire by a deal expiring in December, with a one-year extension clause that can be activated by the club. The U.S. club’s intention would be to exercise the option and then sell the player in the summer, monetizing as much as possible from his transfer.
