Grievous bereavement for Hansi Flick just hours before the Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The blaugrana coach has in fact lost his father, who died on Sunday morning after a long illness. This was revealed on social media by the Catalan club, which expressed condolences and support for the German coach, who is on the verge of winning a second consecutive La Liga in a post on social media that appeared in both English and German.

“FC Barcelona and the entire blaugrana family wish to express all their affection to Hansi Flick on the passing of his father. We share your grief and our thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.” Despite the grief, Flick is expected to sit regularly on the bench during the Camp Nou match. Barcelona only needs a point with Real Madrid to clinch the title and become Spanish champions for the second consecutive year.

The Clasico comes at a time of great turbulence for the Blancos. In the last few hours, Real Madrid has had to deal with a serious internal incident: Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni came to blows twice during weekly training sessions, with the Uruguayan midfielder even ending up in the hospital due to a head injury sustained after hitting his head against an edge.

The club initiated disciplinary proceedings against both players, concluding with a financial penalty of five hundred thousand euros each, after the two publicly expressed their repentance and apologized to the team, staff and fans.
