Official: Roma-Lazio (and the challenges for the Champions League) on Sunday at noon

In the end, there has been a turnaround, or almost: the Serie A Champions Race will be played regularly at the same time on Sunday at 12 noon. The League and the Prefecture, which had initially moved the Rome derby to 8:45 p.m. on Monday for public order reasons related to the concomitance with the finals of the Internazionali di tennis, then reached an agreement (on the recommendation of the TAR) avoiding further complications.
It was the conclusion of a very convulsive day and, more generally, of particularly complex days. Roma-Lazio, Como-Parma, Genoa-Milan, Juventus-Fiorentina and Pisa-Napoli will thus be played at the originally scheduled time, about five hours away from the final of the Internationals (which remains set for 5 p.m.00), which will also be attended by President Mattarella, with the hope that everything will take place without problems at the Olimpico and without disturbances between the Giallorossi and Lazio fans.
The TAR, on the other hand, had been clear: either you find a solution today, or we will decide tomorrow. A message that was evidently received by the parties.
Here is the statement: “Following the invitation formulated today by the President of the Lazio Regional Administrative Court to develop a discussion to find a shared solution on the scheduling of Roma-Lazio, the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security met in the Prefecture in Rome, in the presence of the Mayor of Roma Capitale, the Questore, the provincial Commanders of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, the President of the Serie A League and other representatives of the League, the organization of the Internazionali di Tennis and the CEO of Sport and Health.”
“During the meeting, in light of an updated picture of the situation and the commitment made by the Lega Serie A, the organization of the Internazionali and Sport e Salute to extraordinarily reinforce safety measures and related operational coordination (given the concomitance of sporting events with exceptional public influx and international importance), it was arranged to bring forward the start of Roma-Lazio to 12 noon on Sunday, May 17. On the other hand, the schedule of the International Tennis Championships remains confirmed, with the men’s singles final scheduled at 5 p.m. Security services and the operational plan will be further strengthened, with a new assessment planned at the technical table at the Questura, already convened for tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.,” the note ends.
