From zero to everything: Jannik Sinner is becoming the king of clay and wants to prove it at Roland Garros as well. After scoring a smashing hat trick between Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome, the Italian tennis player wants to continue breaking records in Paris, where he arrives as the number one favorite after archrival Carlos Alcaraz forfeited due to a wrist injury.

Sinner will now take a few days off, but the calendar gives no respite: he will soon be back on the court. In fact, the Roland Garros qualifiers are already underway, and the main draw will officially kick off on May 24.The South Tyrolean star will make his Paris debut between Sunday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 26.

The exact day of his debut and his opponent will be announced after the French Open draw, scheduled for this Thursday. Sinner, the number one seed, had lost to Alcaraz in 2025 at the end of an epic final.

After Roland Garros, Sinner will miss almost the entire grass season and will only participate in the Wimbledon tournament scheduled for June. The last few months have been very intense and the player will have to dose his strength a lot between now and the end of the year. “I need to rest in order to arrive at my best for Roland Garros. I want to spend some time with my family without thinking about tennis,” the world number one said after his victory in Rome.

Rolland Garros is the last major tournament Sinner has yet to win in his career. After conquering all the Masters 1000s on the circuit, it could be the turn of the Career Grand Slam for the phenomenon from Sesto Pusteria, who charmed everyone in Rome on Sunday, even President Sergio Mattarella.

The victory at the Internazionali d’Italia also had a very special flavor on the record level: Sinner became the first tennis player since Rafael Nadal, who did it in 2010, to conquer all three Masters 1000s on clay in the same year. It is a titanic feat on top of the record of having completed the Career Golden Masters-that is, winning all nine tournaments in the category-an accomplishment that only Novak Djokovic had achieved before him, in 2018. The Serbian champion himself wanted to celebrate his young colleague on social media: “Congratulations Jannik, you are impressive. Welcome to this exclusive club,” Djokovic wrote in his Instagram Stories.
