Laila Hasanovic in Cannes: possible clues about future with Jannik Sinner?

Jannik Sinner is enjoying a few days of relaxation after his great feat in Rome, where he won the Internazionali d’Italia putting in his personal trophy cabinet the last Masters 1000 he missed. Those who continue to work, however, are his partner Laila Hasanovic, who showed up Tuesday on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Some of her attitudes and especially the look chosen by the Danish model, however, suggest that there may be big news in store for her and her champion fiancé.

Laila Hasanovic, in Cannes for the presentation of ‘Amarga Navidad,’ Pedro Almodóvar’s new film in Competition at the 79th edition of the Festival, in fact opted for a white dress to which even news agencies (such as ‘Adnkronos’) did not hesitate to attribute a “wedding flavor.” In addition to the “total white” look and the floral-embroidered bodice of her “ethereal dress,” it was also impossible not to notice the large ring that the Dane proudly showed to photographers. And even though she wore it on the middle instead of the ring finger, all clues led to one conclusion: “an appearance that looks almost like a dress rehearsal in white.” That a future marriage is actually being planned with Jannik Sinner, or at least concretely beginning to talk about it?

After all, the bond between Laila and Jannik’s world appears to be increasingly solid and visible. A few days ago, the Danish model was in the stands at the Foro Italico to follow her fiancé in his triumphant ride at the Internazionali d’Italia: first alongside Mark Sinner, Jannik’s brother, during the painful semifinal against Daniil Medvedev, then alongside the entire family – dad Hanspeter and mom Siglinde included – for the final won in two sets over Casper Ruud. A presence that the fans of the South Tyrolean now consider a genuine good luck charm, after having already seen her at the Monte Carlo tournament he won in April.

The Roman final also gave very strong emotions in the stands, with mom Siglinde starring in a gesture that immediately made the rounds of the web: in the very last bars of the match, Jannik’s mother lowered her head and covered her face, overcome with emotion, while next to her dad Hanspeter followed every exchange with bated breath. It was a spontaneous and authentic image, compared by many fans to Alessandro Florenzi’s famous hug to his grandmother after the goal in Roma-Cagliari in 2014. Sinner himself, a guest of Fabio Fazio on Che Tempo che fa on Channel Nine, commented on his mother’s gesture with affectionate irony: “The problem is that I could see her from the field, it’s difficult. But it’s already so much that she stayed there…”.

On a sporting level, the success in the Internazionali d’Italia represented much more than just a title: with the 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Ruud in one hour and forty-five minutes, Sinner became the first Italian to win in Rome since Adriano Panatta, who succeeded back in 1976, exactly fifty years ago. It is also the sixth consecutive Masters 1000 for the South Tyrolean — after Paris 2025, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Madrid — and the completion of the so-called Career Golden Masters, or winning each of the nine tournaments in the category at least once. Before him, the only one to ever feat there was Novak Djokovic, who on social media celebrated his young colleague with an eloquent message, “Congratulations Jannik, you are impressive. Welcome to this exclusive club.”

The setting of the award ceremony did not lack a moment capable of bringing a smile to the Foro Italico audience. Present at the trophy presentation were Panatta himself and President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella: trying to express his emotions in front of the Head of State, Sinner addressed him by calling him “Mr. Mattarella” instead of President. Mattarella himself smiled in delight at the little slip of the tongue, while the audience encouraged the champion not to be overwhelmed by emotion. It was a scene that confirmed how, off the field, Sinner remains a very normal guy – capable of getting as emotional and embarrassed as anyone else. Just like his partner, who chose white in Cannes to tell, perhaps, of a future that is becoming more and more concrete.
