Max Verstappen returns to the Formula 1 paddock with very strong statements about his future. In fact, the four-time world champion continues to show all his discontent with the new technical rules that characterize the current Formula 1. According to the Dutchman, the single-seaters are becoming less and less fun to drive and too dependent on electric management.

In fact, already in the past months Verstappen had hinted that he is not satisfied with the direction Formula 1 has taken, but on the Canadian Grand Prix weekend his words were even harsher. The Dutch driver fears that the future of the category may be moving further and further away from real racing, the kind based primarily on driver talent and overtaking on the track.

The controversy was reignited after qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix. In fact, Max reiterated his threat to leave the category if the rules scheduled for 2027 are not drastically changed, in fact before Saturday’s qualifying he confessed, “Mentally I can’t continue like this.”

However, even after his podium finish in Canada, his first of the season, Max still seems to be dissatisfied and confessed to SkySport’s microphones, “I know what other motorsport categories are like,” he said, not ruling out the possibility of taking another path in the future, “the difference is that when you then come back here it’s simply not very pleasant.

The Red Bull standard bearer thus continues his media fight against modern Formula 1, which he considers too artificial: “I don’t want to be too negative after a race like this, but I know what it’s like to drive real race cars with real overtaking, real racing and natural driving.”
