Charles Leclerc against the wall, red flag at Monte Carlo

Charles Leclerc was the protagonist of an accident during the Monaco 2026 GP, a Formula 1 World Championship round held among the narrow streets of the Principality. After the suspension caused by Lance Stroll’s accident, the race had just restarted: the safety car was returning to the pits and there were eleven laps to go when the Monegasque lost control of his Ferrari at the exit of the Anthony Noghes, the last corner of the circuit.
At that point of the track, speeds are already reduced and braking is minimal before the last change of direction that leads onto the main straight. Leclerc, who was in third position behind Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton, radioed in with a brake problem. Entering the corner slightly wide, he ended up on the dirty part of the asphalt, failing to turn the car, thus crashing into the barriers.
The Ferrari was quickly removed by the marshals, but the race management decided to show the red flag to check the integrity of the protections and ensure the safety of the section affected by the accident. The race will resume for the last ten laps, with the starting mode to be determined by the marshals: either from the grid from a standing start or behind the safety car.
At the time of the interruption, Antonelli was leading the race ahead of Hamilton. Behind them followed Hadjar, Russell, Gasly, Piastri, Lawson, Lindblad, Albon, Sainz, Ocon, Hülkenberg, Colapinto, Alonso, Perez and Bortoleto.
