Franck Kessié’s future is increasingly far from Saudi Arabia. In fact, the Ivorian midfielder has officially decided (there were in fact already warnings to this effect) not to renew his contract with Al-Ahli that expires in June, opening the door to a return to Europe. And Serie A, where he lived for so many years before his year at Barcelona and the Saudi experience, is ready to welcome him back.

According to Sky Sport reports, Juventus would be the club most interested and even has already started to move: the Bianconeri consider Kessié the ideal profile to give physicality, insertions and leadership to the midfield of the new course. Behind them, however, Inter Milan remains vigilant, which had already been interested in the player in unsuspected times, and Gennaro Gattuso’s Lazio, which knows Kessié well from his time at AC Milan and appreciates his characteristics and mentality, is also trying to move.

Those who would like to grab the Ivorian’s performance, however, will have to deal with a no small obstacle, that of the salary. In Saudi Arabia, Kessié earned around €14 million per season, a figure out of reach not only for Juventus, but also for other Italian suitors. Interested clubs would bet on the player’s desire to get back into the game in a high-level technical context: a strategy that could work, but one that will require time and patience.

The Italian clubs, Juve in the lead, are therefore confident that the player’s desire to return to Serie A could lead to a compromise from the point of view of salary, which in his Milan days was 2 million 200 thousand euros net. At the moment they can negotiate with the player’s entourage, whose final decision will come barring surprises only after the World Cup, in which he will be engaged with the Ivory Coast.
