“My time here in Trieste has come to an end, these last two years have been simply magical for me and my family. It was not my choice, but when something ends, one must remember that when man makes plans, God laughs.” Jeff Brooks, who ended his adventure in the land of Giulia, wanted to point out that it was not his decision to end the relationship with Matiasic’s club.

“Thanks to all the players with whom I shared this jersey, to the coaches who prepared us to grow and compete at the highest level, to all those who work at PalaTrieste for their help in our daily lives,” the athlete added, while a rumor is already circulating that would have him back at Dinamo Sassari next season.

The president and owner of the Julian club, Paul Matiasic, had wanted to pay a heartfelt tribute to the Italian-American forward at the time the farewell was made official: “Jeff has been a fundamental pillar of our project in the last two seasons. Not having him at our disposal in the second half of the championship certainly affected our performance, because his basketball intelligence and knowledge of the game are unparalleled.”

The number one of the Julian club then wanted to recall two indelible moments in the recent history of the biancorossa: the decisive basket on the counter-break with 9 seconds left against the Trapani Shark that earned the 2025 Italian Cup semifinal, and the tap-in in Hungary that propelled Trieste to the Basketball Champions League round of 16 in mid-January. “His charisma and ability to pull the fans along has infected the entire city. I want to wish Jeff, Benedetta, and Jordan the best for their future, both on the parquet and in life.”

Now, however, Brooks is thinking about the new chapter in his career, and the one with Sassari would not be unfamiliar territory: the class of 1989, a Louisville native but naturalized Italian, has already worn the jersey of the island club in the 2014-15 season. Brooks, in his career, has also worn the undershirts of Aurora Jesi, Cantù, Juvecaserta, Avtodor Saratov, Malaga, Olimpia Milano and Reyer Venezia.
