A.C. Milan’s second half of the season was very bad and the crisis culminated in their failure to qualify for the Champions League following a 2-1 defeat at the San Siro against Cagliari on the final day. Returning to play in Europe’s top competition was the Diavolo’s main goal and the failure caused a major earthquake in the Rossoneri’s house.

Gerry Cardinale decided to make a clean slate and torpedoed coach Massimiliano Allegri and managers Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada. Now, together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he must rebuild the structure to ensure a better future for Milan.

The leading candidate to take over Massimiliano Allegri’s legacy is Oliver Glasner, an Austrian coach who led London Premier League team Crystal Palace for two years. His soccer, very offensive and intense, is based on pressing and vertical and organized play, the opposite philosophy to that of Massimiliano Allegri. In recent hours, however, a new lead has emerged.

It seems that Gerry Cardinale is also thinking about Ruben Amorim, who is without a team after being kicked out of Manchester United at the beginning of the year. The young Portuguese coach did very well at Sporting, then in November 2024 moved to the Red Devils where he encountered some difficulties.
