Inter Transfer Market: Contract Extension Offered to a Veteran; Response Awaited

Inter is looking to the future but hasn’t forgotten those who have always given their all for the Nerazzurri jersey. After convincing Mkhitaryan to sign on for another season, the Nerazzurri club is trying to persuade another veteran to continue playing for Inter next season as well.
The player in question is de Vrij, one of the many pillars of Inter’s defense. The 34-year-old Dutchman has been wearing the Inter jersey for eight seasons now (in total, he has made 296 appearances and scored 13 goals for Inter). The last season was the most difficult, with only 17 total appearances.
Not selected for the World Cup, de Vrij is evaluating several offers for his future. Among these is now also an offer from Inter, which, of course, is asking the player for a significant reduction in his €3.8 million salary.
The Dutchman is reportedly taking his time before giving a definitive answer. Clearly, Chivu would be delighted to have a highly experienced player like de Vrij on the team. In short, Inter also wants to retain some elements of its past to continue winning in the future.
