Amid toasts and new developments, Real Villasanta celebrates its great season

Real Villasanta

It was a big celebration at Real Villasanta, which marked its excellent season at Circulen-Ultima Spiaggia before the team broke up for a well-deserved rest—though more than a few players are set to compete in summer tournaments in Brianza.

Hosting the event was club president Sersi Marco Palazzi, who praised the team’s unity under the leadership of Massimo “Ciccio” Levati, who appeared to be in top form for the occasion. “I hope none of you go play elsewhere,” said the energetic number one of the green-and-white club, who also announced some news for the future. Among these is the expanded role of Chiara Marzagalli, the first female executive in the history of the Brianza-based club, who has proven to be an irreplaceable asset and who, amid thunderous applause, received a lovely gift: an Inter pennant, her favorite team (along with Real, of course, ed.).

In the season just concluded, Real won the UISP League Cup, ending a seven-season trophy drought, and came within a hair’s breadth of the league title, which was won by Tribe on head-to-head results. For the first time since the club’s founding in 1993, Stefano Malorgio and his teammates claimed both the deeply felt derbies played against the Leoni Arcore. And that’s no small feat.

At the end of the enjoyable evening, to the delight of the neighbors and enhanced by various chants and an abundance of toasts, the players presented Levati and his loyal assistant Luca Saini (both of whom were re-elected by popular acclaim, ed.) with a splendid commemorative jersey.
