CT Italia, a turning point is on the horizon: help is on the way for Conte. Maldini speaks out

We are at the dawn of a new era for the Azzurri: a turning point has arrived with Antonio Conte taking the helm of the Italian national team. According to *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, the hiring of the Lecce-born coach is about to become a reality, thanks in part to the support of Serie A clubs.
The new FIGC president, Giovanni Malagò, explained that the Serie A League “will seek to identify a form of support for the FIGC’s high-level objectives, a proposal to be brought before the Lega Calcio assembly on July 23, also in light of the federation’s budget, which doesn’t allow for extravagant spending. I greatly appreciated that.” In practice, Italian clubs would be ready to contribute in part to the salary of the Salento-born coach and his technical staff.
There is talk of a four-year contract worth approximately 4 million euros net per year plus bonuses: a figure beyond the FIGC’s reach, which will be made possible thanks to the contribution of Serie A clubs, who see the former Napoli coach as the only one capable of turning around the situation in Italian soccer.
However, not all clubs agree with the expense, and it’s possible a commercial partner could be brought in to cover the costs associated with the new head coach’s arrival. The Roberto Mancini option seems increasingly unlikely, and important developments could instead emerge regarding the technical director position.
After days of hesitation, Paolo Maldini is reportedly open to the idea of joining the Azzurri, and news on the matter could come soon. The Milan legend took a few days to decide, but in recent hours, optimism has emerged regarding a positive outcome. In the event of a refusal, other high-profile figures such as Demetrio Albertini and Alessandro Costacurta are being considered.
