Mercato Treviso: French center Valentin Chery’s arrival is official

Nutribullet Treviso lands a major coup by signing Valentin Chery. The French big man will bolster the team’s frontcourt. He’s sure to be a valuable addition next season.
Here is the official statement in which the club welcomed Valentin Chery: “Nutribullet Treviso Basket completes its frontcourt roster for the 2026/27 season with French player Valentin Chery. Chery, born in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez on September 24, 1997, comes from the top French league, specifically from Gravelines-Dunkerque, where he has played since the 2023–24 season. Last season—his best statistically—Chery helped his team avoid relegation by averaging 8.9 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists, establishing himself as one of the league’s most consistent big men.
Valentin launched his career in Nancy, where he stood out in the highly competitive Under-21 league, averaging 11.7 points and 10.2 rebounds. In 2017, he became a regular in the first team’s rotation in the second national division. The following season, he earned a call-up from the ambitious Paris Basketball, with whom he won the Pro B title as a key player at age 23. In 2021, Le Mans gave him his first chance in the Betclic Elite. After two years of steady improvement, in 2023 he joined the “pirates” of Gravelines, where he continued to develop over the course of three years, helping the team achieve its goals.
Since 2023, Chery has been married to French national team basketball player Alexia Chartereau, with whom he has a son, Elihah, born in May of last year. A physical and tenacious player, Chery will bring strength and intensity under the boards. “Bienvenue à Trévise, Valentin.”
