Concerns for Aldo Montano: “Once again, his life is hanging by a thread”

Concerns for Aldo Montano, who documented what happened to him on Instagram: “Another trip to the hospital. More adrenaline, fear, and medication. Once again, my life was hanging by a thread. I’m allergic to casein. It’s not a whim, it’s not a dietary fad, it’s not an intolerance. It’s a potentially life-threatening allergy. And yet it happened again. During dinner at a restaurant in Rome, after clearly informing the staff of my allergy, I found myself fighting for my life.”
“In 2026, it is unacceptable that there is still such carelessness, unpreparedness, and such a serious underestimation of food allergies. When a person informs staff that they have an allergy, they aren’t asking for a favor: they are placing their life in the hands of those who prepare and serve that dish. Every time someone downplays the issue, responds carelessly, or fails to follow protocols, they are putting a human life at risk. There are no ‘minor oversights’ when the consequences can be anaphylactic shock.
“This time, I managed to make it to the hospital. Next time, it might not turn out that way—for me or for someone else. It’s time for food allergies to be treated for what they are: a potential emergency, not a detail to be ignored. Because sometimes, all it takes is one mistake to turn a dinner into a tragedy. A huge thank you to the entire hospital staff—Dr. Roberta, Dr. Annalisa, and Tiziano from the emergency room at Santo Spirito Hospital in Rome—and to my brave driver.”
