Charles Leclerc won the 2026 British Grand Prix, but despite his return to victory after nearly two years, the most surprising moment of his Sunday didn’t happen on the track but on the podium, during the awards ceremony. When the Italian national anthem, played to honor Ferrari, began to echo through Silverstone, the Monegasque driver let himself go, humming along to a part of it, with a smile that betrayed his deep emotion.

A spontaneous and unexpected gesture that left Italian fans speechless. Not only because Leclerc demonstrated that he knew the Italian national anthem, but also because he did so naturally, as if those notes were his own. Ferrari’s No. 16 driver’s connection to Italy was something fans sensed immediately, turning their surprise into a wave of affection, especially on social media.

Leclerc, born in 1997, is in his eighth season with Ferrari, with whom he has racked up nine victories, the first of which came in Belgium in 2019. The next race of the 2026 World Championship will take place at Spa-Francorchamps: the Monegasque driver will try to capitalize on this momentum to get back into the title fight, in which he currently trails Kimi Antonelli by 71 points in the standings.
